East Guitars

By Andre East, Australian luthier.

“Andre has been repairing and setting up all my instruments for years now, and his work is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. He’s fixed valuable instruments that I almost gave up on, turning them into musical gems. I was lucky enough to hear one of his early builds, and was very impressed, so when he told me he’s building a dreadnought guitar, of course I was interested. Having owned acoustic guitars by Martin and Gibson, and instruments from various renowned luthiers such as Collings, Olson, Laskin, Bourgeois, Maingard, Altman, Baxendale, and others over the past 50 years, I was keen to see what Andre could dream up. From the first strum of his E3 Dreadnought, I knew this was going to be my Sound. The tonal depth, clarity and even balance all across the fretboard, incredible sustain, brilliant overtones, were simply stunning, the playability immediate and responsive, the craftsmanship second to none. And it records beautifully. His appointments are outstanding, using some of the most beautiful blue paua purfling and soundhole inlays, to maple bindings and fretboard accents. Andre has captured all the sought-after qualities of the coveted pre-war Martin dreadnoughts, but still offering a modern concert-hall resonance that suits nearly any kind of music. I am a proud owner of this musical inspiration, and highly recommend Andre East’s guitars.” - Zachary West

Guitar Models

E1

OM sized guitar with exaggerated curves. It features a slightly larger upper and lower bout with a tucked waist which sits comfortably in the arms. This guitar has a punchy midrange perfect for fingerpicking.

E2

Based off the Jumbo OM shape, this guitar is the full width of a Dreadnought. The design emphasises bass response, while retaining the overall tonal balance the OM shape provides. It provides a little more punch to drop tunings and is also the shape my Baritone and Fan Fret models feature.

E3

The classic dreadnought. The much larger body provides a louder, fuller sound than smaller guitars. Popular in Bluegrass and Country for the punch that this guitar produces when hit with a pick.
